Julia Bluth is a 15-year-old SeaDoc supporter who lives in Sacramento. Two years ago, she held a garage sale to raise money for SeaDoc as her Bat Mitzvah community service project. She raised more than $1,000 and will be a lifelong supporter! Julia even wants to study marine biology and work for SeaDoc herself someday!
We caught up with her to ask a few questions about herself and the sea!
What initially inspired you to support SeaDoc Society?
My love for sea creatures, and before I knew about SeaDoc my grandparents helped me adopt 2 killer whales at the Whale Museum on Friday Harbor.
What is your biggest concern about Salish Sea health?
I am concerned about the amount of plastic and pollution in the sea.
What are your favorite aspects of SeaDoc Society as an organization?
The people are very kind and care a lot about the ocean.
Why should others consider supporting ocean health?
The health of the ocean impacts everyone, its our planet, we need to take care of it.
What’s your favorite species in the Salish Sea?
Orcas. 😊
Thank you, Julia! We’re lucky to have your support and can’t wait to see what’s in store for your future!
